Google explains why Android AICore occasionally takes up more storage

Google says Android AICore may briefly use extra storage during Gemini Nano updates.

For up to three days, it can keep both the old and new model so devices can roll back quickly if an update fails.

Once the new version is confirmed stable, the temporary space is automatically freed.

The behavior affects supported Android 14 devices and reflects the trade-off of on-device AI: more local storage for privacy, offline use, and faster processing.
