Dutch government selects Stackit, Lidl’s sister company, as its cloud alternative

The Dutch government signed a framework deal with Stackit to help public agencies use European cloud services.

The agreement requires data to stay in the European Economic Area and gives auditors compliance rights.

It also includes an exit clause if the supplier becomes controlled from outside the EEA.

The move is meant to reduce reliance on U.S. cloud vendors and strengthen digital sovereignty.
