China has started sea trials for the world’s first 24,000-TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship, a 24,168-TEU vessel built in Nantong.

The ship can switch between methanol and conventional fuel, offering a path to lower emissions in maritime transport.

If operated with green methanol, it could significantly reduce shipping pollution and support global decarbonization goals.

The launch underscores China’s growing strength in green shipbuilding and cleaner shipping technology.
