AWS launches Agent Registry for managing AI agents

AWS previewed Agent Registry in AgentCore, a centralized service for cataloging AI agents, tools, MCP servers, and related resources across organizations.

The registry stores metadata such as publisher identity, protocols, and invocation details, and supports manual or automated registration plus console, API, and MCP-client access.

Its hybrid keyword and semantic search helps teams discover existing capabilities, reuse them, and avoid duplicate builds while strengthening governance and compliance.

For companies deploying more agents across cloud and on-prem environments, it offers a way to control agent sprawl and improve visibility and policy enforcement.
