Someone built a map of the stars from Project Hail Mary, and it’s shockingly good

A developer named Val built an interactive Project Hail Mary star map using ESA’s Gaia DR3 data.

The project plots 1.8 billion real stars with colors and positions, creating a highly realistic sky view.

It also includes a separate visualization of the story’s Astrophage infection path.

The fan project highlights how public astronomical data can power rich, accurate sci-fi experiences.
