SoftBank reported a record $46 billion Vision Fund gain for the year ended March 31, driven mainly by the surge in OpenAI’s valuation.

The company has already invested more than $30 billion in OpenAI and plans to commit over $60 billion in total for about a 13% stake.

Other holdings were weaker, but asset sales such as T-Mobile and Nvidia helped support liquidity and SoftBank still posted a 5 trillion yen net profit.

The results highlight how SoftBank’s concentrated bet on OpenAI is creating huge paper gains, while also raising leverage and concentration-risk concerns.
