Uber eyes transformation into a data supplier for the autonomous driving ecosystem...expanding AV Labs

Uber plans to turn ordinary driver vehicles into sensor-equipped data collection cars for autonomous driving companies.

The initiative is an expansion of AV Labs, complementing Uber’s AV Cloud and Shadow Mode testing offerings.

Uber already works with 25 autonomous vehicle companies, including Waymo and Wave.

The move could position Uber as key infrastructure for large-scale real-world driving data in the AV industry.
