‘Starting In April’—Microsoft Changes Windows Update After 15 Years

Microsoft will start showing Secure Boot certificate status in the Windows Security app in April 2026.

Windows Update will also automatically deliver the newer 2023 certificates to help keep PCs booting securely.

The move comes as the first Secure Boot certificates from the 2011 set begin expiring, with more warnings planned for May 2026 ahead of the June deadline.
