JR West reduces platform gap on Osaka Loop Line, making boarding and alighting easier for wheelchair users

JR West is improving accessibility at major Osaka Loop Line stations by reducing the gap and level difference between platforms and trains.

From June 1, a new operation will start at some stations for 323 series trains, allowing wheelchair users who want to disembark independently to skip advance notification to the destination station.

The change is meant to make boarding and alighting easier and cut waiting time for wheelchair users.

Stations involved include Tsuruhashi, Kyobashi, Osaka, Shin-Imamiya, Nishikujo, Bentencho, and Tennoji.
