Moonshot begins building next-generation ‘Kimi K4’...seeks to secure additional Nvidia Blackwell chips

Moonshot AI is reportedly developing Kimi K4, a larger next-generation model than Kimi K3, and is seeking additional Nvidia Blackwell GPUs.

Kimi K3 was already trained and served using Nvidia chips including Blackwell and H20, with distributed training across data centers in and outside China.

The case underscores how leading Chinese AI firms still rely on Nvidia hardware for frontier model training despite Beijing’s push for domestic chips.

It may intensify U.S. scrutiny of Chinese access to advanced AI semiconductors and of possible workarounds to export controls.
