Reed Hastings is leaving Netflix after 29 years

Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings will step down from the board in June.

He founded Netflix in 1997 and helped steer its shift from DVD rentals to streaming and original content.

His departure closes a major founder-led chapter in Netflix’s history.

Hastings plans to devote more attention to philanthropy and other interests.
