MCP just got its biggest update ever — here’s what changes for AI agents

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) got its biggest update yet under the Agentic AI Foundation.

The core change is a fully stateless design with stronger authentication and no session stickiness.

It also adds a 12-month deprecation policy, plus official extensions for interactive server-rendered interfaces and long-running async tasks.

The overhaul should make it much easier for enterprises to run MCP-based AI agents at scale in standard cloud and load-balanced environments.
