Samsung Postpones HBM5E Memory Production Indefinitely After D1d DRAM Yields Fall Short of Internal Targets

Samsung has reportedly delayed HBM5E mass production indefinitely because its 1d DRAM yields have not yet met internal targets.

The company had already received pre-production approval, but it is now reworking its process roadmap instead of moving ahead.

Samsung is also expanding manufacturing and back-end capacity as it tries to regain momentum in advanced HBM for AI chips.

Rivals such as SK Hynix are continuing to push forward with their own D1d DRAM plans.
