China adds Canadian 800V electric drive program with new 250kW two-speed EV system

Magna won a new EV drive program from Chery to build a 250-kW, 800-volt two-speed electric drive system.

The unit will be produced at Magna’s Wuhu facility for a future Chery battery-electric vehicle program.

The deal highlights rising demand in China for localized 800V drivetrains and deeper local supply chains.

Magna and Chery have also started series production of a separate hybrid drive system for the Jetour G700.
