Anthropic loses bid to pause Pentagon blacklisting as AI legal battle escalates

A federal appeals court refused to pause the Pentagon’s treatment of Anthropic as a supply-chain risk.

That leaves Anthropic out of DoD contracts for now, and defense contractors must certify they are not using its models for military-related work.

Anthropic can still work with other federal agencies and on non-DoD projects.

A separate California federal court blocked a broader ban on Claude.

The appeals panel said the government had the stronger balance of harms and said the case should move fast.
