Shinkansen commuter passes to allow seat reservations on EX from September

JR Tokai and JR West will launch an EX seat reservation service for Shinkansen commuter pass users on September 15.

The service will let FREX and FREX Pal holders reserve seats in advance through EX reservation and Smart EX.

It covers standard reserved seats on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen, plus Green Car on some segments, with sales open from 5:30 a.m. until four minutes before departure.

A valid commuter or student pass is still required, and some related ticket products will be discontinued.
