China could launch the world’s largest naval support ship with over 45,000 tons of displacement: Report

Satellite imagery and a shipyard photo have fueled speculation that China is building a much larger new naval replenishment ship.

Analysts estimate the vessel could displace about 60,000 to 65,000 tons, making it far larger than current Chinese support ships.

If confirmed, the ship would improve the PLA Navy’s ability to sustain carrier groups and other forces on long-range deployments.

The project highlights China’s push to strengthen blue-water logistics despite its limited network of overseas bases.
