Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications requests lower fees for furusato tax donations; also proposes a 3% plan

Japan’s Internal Affairs ministry has asked Furusato Nozei portal operators to lower fees and requested responses by the end of August.

In response, Trustbank said 736 municipalities have joined its 3% fee plan, “Choice 3.”

The company plans to expand adoption through briefings and other outreach to local governments.

Fee cuts could reduce municipal burdens and reshape the competitive landscape and operating costs of the donation system.
