SpaceX has a $55 billion plan to build AI chips in Texas

SpaceX disclosed plans to invest at least $55 billion in a chip plant in Austin, Texas, with potential expansion up to $119 billion.

The Terafab facility would make AI chips for SpaceX and Tesla, giving Musk’s companies a bigger in-house supply.

SpaceX filed hearing materials tied to tax breaks, and Intel is expected to help build the project.

If completed, the plant could reshape U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and boost AI, robotics, and space computing efforts.
