International group calls for AI safety measures for children ahead of UN summit

More than 100 groups urged governments to strengthen AI protections for children ahead of the UN’s first global AI governance summit.

Led by 5Rights Foundation, the appeal calls for proof of safety before release, penalties for harmful products, and bans on exploitative use of children’s data.

Advocates warned that AI products are harming children before regulators act, and said existing children’s rights commitments should be used to hold companies accountable.
