Pompeii victim identified as a likely doctor

CT scans and 3D reconstruction helped archaeologists identify a Pompeii victim as likely a Roman doctor.

The analysis used preserved remains and builds on ongoing restoration of Pompeii’s plaster casts and earlier DNA work.

The finding suggests modern imaging can reshape long-held interpretations of victims of the 79 CE Mount Vesuvius eruption.
