Intel Using 14A Tech For Its Own “Internal” Chips Is Not Just A Clever Move, But Also Ignites Huge Confidence of External Customers

Intel says it will use its 14A process for several future in-house chips while also courting external foundry customers.

The company has already seen multiple internal tape-outs on 14A and is finalizing the 0.9 PDK, with Tesla among the firms showing interest.

CEO Lip-Bu Tan said tight wafer supply is pushing more Intel products to 14A to improve supply-chain control.

Intel is still ramping 18A for Panther Lake, but 14A adoption could help validate the node and build customer confidence.
