Samsung will discontinue its Messages app in July 2026

Samsung announced it will discontinue its native Messages app in July 2026 and will push users to Google Messages.

After the cutoff, Samsung Messages will stop functioning as a normal texting app and most users will need to switch apps.

Some new Galaxy phones already ship with Google Messages as the default, and Samsung has been reducing Samsung Messages presence on devices.
