More Americans now support banning phones all day at school, not just in class

A Pew Research Center survey shows growing U.S. support for school cellphone restrictions.

Seventy-seven percent back classroom bans for middle and high school students, and 48% support all-day bell-to-bell bans, which is now slightly above opposition for the first time.

Support is stronger among older adults and Republicans, while younger adults and Democrats are less supportive.

Many parents still worry about being able to reach their children in emergencies.
