Steam game controller 'Steam Controller' debuts with magnetic sticks and a trackpad, but some say it's limited for games outside Steam

Valve will launch the Steam Controller in Japan on May 5, 2026.

The new controller includes magnetic analog sticks, trackpads, rear buttons, haptics, gyro support, and Steam Deck-style customization.

It comes with the Steam Controller Puck for wireless use and charging, and also supports USB-C wired play.

Valve says it works across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Link devices, but early testing found limits in some non-Steam games like Fortnite.
