FDA Approves Eli Lilly’s GLP-1 Pill

The FDA approved Eli Lilly’s once-daily GLP-1 obesity pill Foundayo, expanding treatment options beyond injections.

It becomes the second approved weight-loss pill in this drug class, after Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pill.

Eli Lilly says Foundayo can be taken any time without food or water restrictions and is already available via LillyDirect.

In trials, the highest dose led to about 12.4% average body-weight loss over 18 months, and the FDA cleared it in a 50-day expedited review.
