Apple Reportedly Testing Intel's 18A-P Process to Make iPhone and Mac Chips

Apple is reportedly testing Intel’s 18A-P process for some lower-end iPhone, iPad, and Mac chips.

If the tests succeed, Intel could start producing certain Apple chips as early as 2027, with a gradual ramp-up after that.

TSMC would still remain Apple’s main chipmaker, so this would be diversification rather than a full shift.

The move would mark a notable return to Intel manufacturing for Apple and reduce dependence on TSMC for part of its supply chain.
