Chinese firm targets 8,000 megatransfer per second memory speeds with new chip controller

Montage Technology says it has started trial production of a CXL 3.2 Memory eXpander Controller for AI and data-center systems.

The chip bridges processors to external DDR5 memory and supports CXL.mem and CXL.io over PCIe 6.x.

It targets up to 8000 MT/s DDR5 speeds and is built for memory pooling and tiered-memory architectures.

The goal is to ease memory bottlenecks in AI and cloud servers, improving scalability, performance, and infrastructure efficiency.
