Hegseth, Trump had no authority to order Anthropic blacklisted, judge says

Judge Rita Lin Lin granted Anthropic’s request for a preliminary injunction.

The Department of War tried to blacklist Anthropic and label it a supply‑chain risk, citing the company’s “hostile manner through the press.”

The judge said the measures appeared intended to punish Anthropic and amounted to unlawful First Amendment retaliation.

The DoW action led to three trade deals being promptly canceled and threatened Anthropic with potential loss of billions in private and government contracts over the next five years.

The injunction bars U.S. agencies from complying with directives from Donald Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.
