Why the Linux Foundation adopted MCP, with Jim Zemlin and Mazin Gilbert

The Linux Foundation has placed MCP, Goose, and AGENTS.md under the new Agentic AI Foundation.

The move came from the tools’ original creators and was announced in late 2025.

At the MCP Dev Summit, Jim Zemlin and AAIF executive director Mazin Gilbert outlined the foundation’s leadership and direction.

The shift gives the new foundation a major role in setting standards and governance for agentic AI infrastructure.
