OpenAI is giving ChatGPT Plus subscription to an entire country

OpenAI has struck a first-of-its-kind national partnership with Malta to offer ChatGPT Plus for free for one year.

Eligible citizens and residents will get access after completing a free government-backed AI literacy course.

The “AI for All” program is being developed with the University of Malta and starts this month.

The offer also extends to Maltese citizens abroad who are registered in the country’s digital identity system.

The deal highlights a shift toward government-backed AI access that could shape future public-service and education use.
