US seals new deal to build ‘world’s most advanced’ military engine for F-35 jets

The U.S. Department of Defense finalized a $3.8 billion contract modification with Pratt & Whitney to continue F135 engine production.

The modification brings the combined value for two production lots to about $6.6 billion and covers engines, spare parts, modules, and engineering services.

Pratt & Whitney said investments raised engine production rates by 20%, with manufacturing centered in Connecticut and work due by March 2028.
