Startup builds insect-killing tiny drone as alternative to chemical insecticides

Paris startup Tornyol, backed by Y Combinator, unveiled a tiny autonomous drone designed to detect and kill mosquitoes in mid-air.

The drone uses ultrasonic sensing and onboard navigation, and the team says it can target insects like Anopheles mosquitoes.

Tornyol pitches the system as a non-chemical alternative to insecticides for mosquito control and disease prevention.

A consumer or public-health rollout is still being developed, and major hurdles remain around flight time, cost, and scaling.
