Anthropic partners with the UK Government to bring AI assistance to GOV.UK services

Anthropic has been selected by the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) to build and pilot an AI assistant for GOV.UK.

The assistant, powered by Claude, will guide people through government services and offer personalized advice.

The initial focus is employment: helping job seekers find work, access training, understand available support, and route them to the right services.

The agentic system will maintain context across interactions and give users control over what data is remembered, with opt-out options and handling in line with UK data protection law.

Anthropic engineers will work alongside Government Digital Service staff to build AI and AI-safety expertise within government and enable the government to independently maintain the system.
