How NASA’s Mars Oxygen Tech Sparked a 100-Hour Battery Breakthrough

Noon Energy, a California startup, has adapted NASA’s Mars oxygen work into a carbon-based energy storage system.

The system splits CO2 into solid carbon and oxygen to store electricity for more than 100 hours.

It is designed for grid-scale use and could support solar and wind power with much longer-duration storage.

If it scales successfully, it could offer a cheaper alternative to lithium-ion batteries and reduce reliance on critical materials.
