Apple’s new hardware subscription sounds great, except for one limitation

Bloomberg says Apple is preparing Apple Upgrade, a monthly hardware leasing program for devices bought through its online store and retail locations.

The plan could make newer Apple hardware more affordable by lowering the upfront cost for customers.

However, some lower-cost models may be left out, including the Apple Watch SE, entry-level iPad, iPhone 16, and MacBook Neo.

If launched, the program could broaden Apple’s appeal, but limited eligibility may reduce its reach.
