Minecraft puts its Java multiplayer test on hold: "The experience wasn't what we wanted"

Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 pre-release 1 removes the new peer-to-peer multiplayer test that appeared in a recent snapshot.

Mojang said the feature did not meet quality goals, so it has been pulled back for further refinement.

Other friends list functions are still available, while smaller gameplay, chat, and server property tweaks remain in the update.

The pre-release also includes changes tied to Sulfur-related mobs, blocks, and biome effects.
