A used Asus ROG Strix RTX 4090 bought on eBay turned out to be a highly convincing counterfeit.

Northwest Repair found the GPU and VRAM chips had been shaved, re-marked, and laser-etched to mimic genuine parts.

The fake card did not work, and microscope analysis exposed factory-level deception.

The case highlights how advanced GPU counterfeits have become in the used-hardware market.
