Texas project advances toward commercial molten-salt reactor with new engineering work

Terrestrial Energy has started engineering and licensing work for its planned IMSR molten-salt reactor at Texas A&M-RELLIS in Texas.

The company hired Zachry Group to support civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and nuclear quality work.

The project is preparing for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission permit steps, moving the reactor closer to possible construction.

If built, the advanced reactor could supply power, industrial heat, and energy for data centers.
