Android 17 is fixing two things that have annoyed me for years

Google previewed two Android 17 updates: Pause Point and a redesigned 3D emoji set.

Pause Point adds a brief delay and wellbeing prompts before opening potentially distracting apps.

The feature is aimed at reducing doomscrolling and making app opens more intentional.

A refreshed 3D emoji design will start rolling out to Pixel phones later this year.

The update also narrows the visual gap between Android emojis and iPhone’s look.
