"We'll Do Better" Xbox Responds to Recent Service Outage

Xbox suffered a broad service outage caused by a failure in an external licensing service, blocking some users from signing in, viewing libraries, and launching games.

CTO Scott Van Vliet said Xbox isolated the issue and rerouted traffic to restore service.

Xbox says it will publish a fuller postmortem and strengthen prevention efforts to reduce the risk of repeat incidents.
