CareCloud begins notifying hundreds of thousands after hackers stole medical records

CareCloud says hackers accessed one of its cloud-based electronic health record systems for at least six days in March.

The breach affected at least 345,000 people and exposed names, addresses, Social Security numbers, government IDs, financial details, and medical records.

The company is notifying affected individuals as regulators in several states, including California, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Texas, and Maine, were informed.

The incident raises major risks of identity theft, fraud, and patient privacy harm across U.S. healthcare systems.
