Surprise X-Ray Discovery May Explain Strange Red Dots in Early Universe

Astronomers using JWST and Chandra found a distant little red dot, 3DHST-AEGIS-12014, that shines in X-rays unlike most others.

Its unusual emission suggests it may be a transitional object, offering a link between little red dots and growing black holes.

The result could help explain how some of the first supermassive black holes formed and evolved in the early Universe.
