1 GWh water-based zinc battery project targets fire-safe AI data center backup

Hong Kong startup Amazinc Energy secured funding to scale its water-based zinc battery platform.

The company plans to build a 1 GWh-per-year production line for UPS backup and large-scale storage.

Its batteries are aimed at AI data centers and other critical facilities that need safer backup power.

If successful, the technology could replace lead-acid systems and lower lithium battery fire risk while improving sustainability.
