The AI Backlash Is Transforming Into a Political Movement

Irreplaceable has launched to turn public fear and anger over AI job losses, surveillance, and unchecked development into an activist movement.

Led by climate-movement veterans Jeremy Ornstein and Phil Aroneanu, the group is calling for slower AI deployment, stronger safeguards, and greater democratic oversight.

It plans to focus on data centers, automation, AI surveillance, catastrophic risks, and the influence of technology companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Concern over AI is moving beyond polling and local opposition toward organized political activism.
