Florida launches investigation into OpenAI

James Uthmeier is launching an investigation into OpenAI.

He says the probe is about public safety and national security risks.

Uthmeier said subpoenas tied to the investigation are forthcoming.

This week, the family of a man killed in the April 2025 Florida State University shooting filed a lawsuit against OpenAI.

Last October, the FTC ordered OpenAI and other tech companies to explain how they assess chatbot effects on children.
