Android 17 catches up to Apple with a long-overdue cross-device upgrade

Google is adding Continue On to Android 17, a secure cross-device handoff feature that lets users resume an app’s current state on another device.

The initial rollout focuses on phone-to-tablet transfer and can pick up content like articles, notes, emails, webpages, and documents.

If the app isn’t installed on the receiving device, Continue On may fall back to the web.

Testing starts with Android 17 RC1, with a stable release expected later this year.
