SpaceX Vows to Keep Poisoning Nearby Towns With Its Fume-Belching Data Center For Another Year

SpaceX says it plans to connect its Memphis-area AI data centers to a 1.2-gigawatt natural gas power plant.

Until then, it will keep running 69 portable gas turbines that have faced pollution complaints and allegations of operating without a permit.

SpaceX says the turbines will not be fully removed until July 2027.

Residents, environmental groups, and the Southern Environmental Law Center say the facility is worsening air quality and exposing nearby communities to harmful emissions.
