New Rowhammer attack can grant kernel-level control on Nvidia workstation GPUs

Researchers at UNC Chapel Hill and Georgia Tech show GDDR6-based Rowhammer can target Nvidia Ampere and Ada Lovelace GPUs in Linux workstations.

Multi-sided Rowhammer techniques can corrupt far more data and in some cases grant arbitrary read/write access to GPU and CPU memory.

System-level ECC slows these attacks but does not fully prevent them; hardware mitigations like TRR can be overwhelmed while RFM is not yet widely implemented in controllers.
