Your Blood Type Affects Risk of Early Stroke, Study Reveals

A large genetics study found blood type A, especially the A1 subgroup, is linked to a modestly higher risk of stroke before age 60.

Researchers also found a type O1 variant was associated with a slightly lower early-stroke risk.

The analysis pooled data from 48 studies and tens of thousands of participants.

Experts say the effect is small, but it may help explain stroke biology and guide future research.
